32 weeks!

Today marks 32 weeks! (the beginning of at least). EIGHT or less to go! :)

The past few days have been okay... there was actually a typhoon 8 warning here on monday night/tuesday morning (9/14-15). It was mostly windy and the rain was pounding down- this time however it was in the back of the house, so our bedroom was really noisy with the pitter patter of crashing raindrops- especially on the a/c unit. And even though there was a typhoon with rain, we still needed to keep the a/c on. Ahhh hong kong humidity! Luckily however based on the winds, our living room didn't get soaked/flooded like last time, so no damage to our curtains or carpet.

The more unfortunate part of the typhoon however was that we were supposed to go to get our 3 hour glucose test on Tuesday morning- leaving the house around 8am. Well, unfortunately that got postponed... so fasting, for well, nothing. We did however get to watch the finals of the US Open where Del Potro beat Federer! Great match and this 09 US Open definitely had a lot of surprises and upsets which was fun to watch.

Anyhow, so I had to fast again, tuesday night, to go to the hospital on Wednesday morning. I woke up at 4am quite hungry but managed to go back to sleep till 730am. Unfortuately there is a lot of traffic on the HK side at 8:30-9am... hopefully little girl will come during the day or in the middle of the night. That would be ideal; though even with traffic it takes about 35-40 minutes to get to HK adventist. Not too bad... but it seems like a lot longer when you're moving at about the pace of a snail. How i don't miss driving in traffic...

So we get to the hospital around 9am. First blood is drawn at 9:30, where it is considered your "no glucose" blood. Unfortunately I had to wait until almost an hour before I actually got that really nasty glucose drink... 10:23 I downed a cup of sugar water, about 10000parts of sugar to 1 part water. It was non-flavored, just sugar. Think sierra mist but times 10000 without the lemon lime and without the carbination. yum. and even more unfortunate after that, i ended up throwing it up- not once, but twice... and oh my, i knew i couldn't spit it up so the first time i managed to swallow. but oh no, the second time wasn't so easy. it came out my nose. gross. i got some of it back down but tasted sugar in my nose for the rest half of the day. super pleasant i tell ya. so the clock started ticking... 11:23, first "post glucose" blood drawn... then 12:23, 2nd, and finally 1:23pm the 3rd and final time. By then i wasn't even hungry anymore; i think i was beyond hungry and just plain tired. So i went home and rested.

*we must be thankful again* that we work for family and can have the luxury of taking random days off when needed. Of course thanks to blackberry though, i am connected about 24/7 except when blackberry wants to "think".

anyhow, i'm really glad the glucose test is over... now just need to await the results! I hope we're okay... we should be though since mommy doesn't have any diabetes in her family. We'll go back to the dr next week and since we are at 32 wks, dr says every 2 weeks we need to go back. then at week 36 we'll go back every week!! We're getting sooooooo close and it's so exciting!!

Btw= your grandma says that these tests are really horrible, as are medicines-- "they're just giving you more medicine for more medicine upon medicines... you need to learn prevention, and wellness, especially in diet and exercise!! that will keep you healthy."

ahhh grandma. she's great. but i think she does have a point. i can't wait for you to meet her little girl!

Also- Auntie Amy is going to send your goodies soon! i can't wait... i already stare at your corner of stuff growing in our home... even though we are super procrastinating in getting everything set for your arrival... one of these days we'll finally start cleaning up your room... i promise.

love love love.
grow grow grow!
<3 mommy
